Semiconductor Giant Analog Devices Reports Data Exfiltration, Ransomware Group Claims Responsibility
Semiconductor industry leader **Analog Devices** has disclosed an intrusion into its systems, resulting in the exfiltration of data. The incident, identified in late June, comes amidst claims from the ransomware group **ExfilSquad** regarding a significant data theft targeting the company's customers.
Massachusetts-based chip manufacturer **Analog Devices** filed a report with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Wednesday, detailing an unauthorized access incident on June 23. The company promptly initiated its incident response protocols, engaging external cybersecurity experts and coordinating with law enforcement agencies.
During the ongoing investigation, **Analog Devices** confirmed that "certain files" were exfiltrated from its systems. However, the full scope of the breach remains under assessment. The company currently states that it does not anticipate a material impact on its business operations from this intrusion.
"To the Companyβs knowledge, the data has not been publicly released or used for fraudulent purposes," the SEC filing stated. Adding a layer of complexity, **Analog Devices** also noted a separate, "disparate cybersecurity matter" brought to its attention on July 26, which it claims is unrelated to the June incident. The validity, scope, and potential impact of this second matter are also under evaluation.
While **Analog Devices** has not provided further details on this purported second incident, it coincides with claims made by the ransomware group **ExfilSquad**. **ExfilSquad** has publicly asserted that it stole over 570,000 records pertaining to **Analog Devices** customers. A spokesperson for **Analog Devices** declined to comment on the ransomware group's claims.
