The **Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF)**, a stalwart defender of civil liberties in the digital realm, has strengthened its leadership with the appointment of **Alexander “amac” Macgillivray** to its Board of Directors. **Macgillivray** is a highly respected figure in technology law and policy, known for his instrumental roles across both government and the private sector. ### A Career Spanning Tech Giants and the White House **Macgillivray**'s impressive career includes serving in the **Biden Administration** as Deputy Assistant to the President and Principal Deputy U.S. Chief Technology Officer in the Office of Science and Technology Policy. He held a similar position in the **Obama Administration**. Notably, he was a co-author of the **Biden Administration's Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights** and led numerous AI initiatives, including organizing CEO convenings and overseeing the creation of the National AI Research and Development Strategic Plan. Prior to his government service, **Macgillivray** was General Counsel at **Twitter** from 2009 to 2013, where he oversaw Corporate Development, Public Policy, Communications, and Trust & Safety teams. Before that, he served as Deputy General Counsel at **Google** from 2003 to 2009, where he established the Product Counsel team. ### Shaping the Future of AI with EFF Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, **Macgillivray** stated, “One of the things I am currently focused on is positively impacting AI development.
