ACE Shuts Down AnimePlay, a Major Anime Piracy Streaming Platform
The **Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE)** has successfully shut down **AnimePlay**, a prominent anime streaming platform boasting over 5 million users. This action is part of ACE's ongoing efforts to combat illegal streaming services by dismantling their infrastructure and restricting their ability to relaunch.

**ACE**, backed by major players like **Disney**, **Paramount**, **Sony Pictures**, **Warner Bros**, **Netflix**, and **Universal Pictures**, continues its crackdown on illegal streaming services through civil litigation, criminal referrals, and cease-and-desist operations.
### ACE's Ongoing Anti-Piracy Efforts
In recent years, **ACE** has targeted and dismantled numerous large-scale illegal streaming networks in collaboration with law enforcement. A notable example is the shutdown of **Photocall** in November 2025, a TV piracy streaming platform with over 26 million users annually.
### AnimePlay Dismantled
The latest target, **AnimePlay**, hosted over 60 terabytes of anime content and had amassed over 5 million registered users, primarily from Indonesia. **ACE** seized control of the **AnimePlay** app and dismantled the entire operation by taking all infrastructure offline, including hosting servers and web domains.
**ACE** stated that they secured control of the application, its underlying infrastructure, including 15 associated domains, source code, hosting environment, and related digital assets. All assets have been taken offline, effectively dismantling the operation and hindering the operator's ability to rebuild or relaunch the service.
### Surrender of Backend Ecosystem
The developer and admin of **AnimePlay** also surrendered control of the backend ecosystem to **ACE**. This includes backend servers, associated databases, advertising tools, and 29 **GitHub** repositories containing the full source code.
### Industry Perspective
Larissa Knapp, Chief Content Protection Officer and Executive Vice President for the Motion Picture Association (**MPA**), emphasized the commitment to working with partners across the Asia Pacific region and globally to dismantle criminal operations and safeguard the integrity of the creative economy.
