Tata Electronics Confirms Cyberattack Amidst Apple Component Data Leak Claims
Indian manufacturing giant **Tata Electronics** has confirmed a cyberattack impacting parts of its IT infrastructure, though it asserts no operational disruption. The confirmation follows claims by the **World Leaks** extortion group, which has leaked data allegedly containing sensitive manufacturing information for **Apple** products.
A division of the **Tata Group**, **Tata Electronics** has grown rapidly since its 2020 inception, becoming a significant producer and assembler of **Apple iPhones** and their components in India.
In a statement to BleepingComputer, a spokesperson for **Tata Electronics** acknowledged the incident: βA few weeks ago, **Tata Electronics** identified a cybersecurity incident on some of our systems. Our response protocols were deployed immediately, and the incident has had no impact on our operations across businesses, which remain unaffected.β
### World Leaks Group Claims Responsibility
The company's confirmation comes as the **World Leaks** threat group has begun leaking data online, claiming it was stolen from **Tata Electronics**. The leaked information reportedly includes multiple directories and documents detailing manufacturing data for **Apple** products. This encompasses internal component schematics, PCB designs, material specifications, and SDK files.

BleepingComputer has reached out to **Apple** for comment regarding the potential exposure of proprietary data but has not yet received a response.
### Hunters International Rebrand
**World Leaks** is understood to be a rebrand of the former **Hunters International** ransomware group, which ceased its encryption operations in July 2025. Unlike its predecessor, **World Leaks** focuses solely on data extortion, exfiltrating sensitive files and threatening their public release without employing ransomware for system encryption.
This group has previously targeted other high-profile entities. Computer manufacturer **Dell** confirmed a breach by **World Leaks** in July 2025, and sportswear behemoth **Nike** launched an investigation in January 2026 following claims of a 1.4 TB data theft.
