In a significant move to deepen technological cooperation and advance military AI, Ukraine has granted the United Kingdom access to a vast repository of battlefield data. The agreement, signed by Ukrainian President **Volodymyr Zelensky** and British Prime Minister **Andy Burnham**, marks a pivotal moment in defense innovation. ### A Goldmine of Combat Intelligence The **Avengers AI Labs** platform, managed by Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, is a sophisticated defense system built upon millions of images and other critical data points collected directly from the battlefield. This data, sourced from thousands of cameras and infrared sensors, includes detailed information on tanks, artillery, air defense systems, infantry, and aerial targets like attack and reconnaissance drones. Ukraine has been utilizing this data to train AI models for recognizing and classifying battlefield objects. The Defense Ministry previously reported that systems trained on this dataset analyze over 100,000 drone video feeds monthly, aiding in the real-time identification of approximately 70% of enemy targets. ### Accelerating AI Development British Prime Minister **Andy Burnham** described **Avengers AI Labs** as a "goldmine of battlefield data," emphasizing its potential to accelerate the development of capabilities that enhance national security and protect critical infrastructure. "By combining Ukrainian battlefield data with British expertise, we will accelerate the development of capabilities that not only strengthen our national security but better protect our critical infrastructure," Burnham stated. Several pilot projects are already underway with British firms. These include Bristol-based fiber-optic sensing company **Sintela**, Oxford-based artificial intelligence firm **Mind Foundry**, and London-based modeling and simulation software company **Skyral**. ### Protecting Critical Infrastructure The initial technology developed under this initiative is slated for deployment at a British defense facility, designed to safeguard bases from protestors and hostile actors attempting to gather intelligence. British authorities anticipate that this technology could eventually be expanded to protect airports, prisons, railways, energy infrastructure, and other military installations. ### The DELTA Connection **Avengers AI Labs** contains approximately 5 million battlefield images and video frames and is intricately linked to **DELTA**, Ukraine's military battlefield management and situational awareness system. A significant portion of the **Avengers** dataset originates from **DELTA** and is continuously updated with fresh combat data. This agreement with the UK is part of a broader Ukrainian strategy to leverage its extensive combat data for military AI development and to foster deeper technological partnerships with its allies. In April, Ukraine announced a similar collaboration with Germany, providing German partners access to battlefield information from **DELTA** and other military systems to train and refine their AI models.
