Ukraine Claims Cyberattack on Russia's Wildberries Amplified Drone Strike Impact
Ukraine's military intelligence asserts it disrupted the operations of **Wildberries**, Russia's largest online marketplace, through a recent cyberattack. This digital offensive, reportedly in cooperation with the **Cyber Corps** hacker group, aimed to magnify the effects of ongoing physical drone strikes against the company's infrastructure, causing significant logistical and financial disruption.
Ukraine's **Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR)** announced a successful cyberattack against **Wildberries**, a major Russian e-commerce giant often likened to **Amazon** due to its expansive scale and logistics network. The operation, executed in collaboration with the **Cyber Corps** hacker group, reportedly caused widespread disruption to the company's digital infrastructure.
### Targeting Key Infrastructure
The attack specifically targeted **Wildberries**' customer service, contact centers, and payment systems, leading to numerous customer complaints regarding payment processing issues. While the claims have not been independently verified, **HUR** stated that the objective was to cripple a company deemed crucial to Russia's logistics and its financial support for the war against Ukraine.
### Amplifying Kinetic Strikes
This cyber operation is presented as a strategic complement to physical drone strikes that have recently targeted **Wildberries** warehouses. According to reports from Russian media, the company has already lost over 1.2 million square meters of warehouse space due to Ukrainian attacks. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry further claimed that seven of the company's ten largest logistics centers have been rendered inoperable.
**HUR** emphasized that the cyberattack was designed to "amplify the impact of kinetic strikes by Ukraineβs Defense Forces on Wildberries warehouses, causing further significant losses for a company that fuels the aggressorβs economy and its criminal war against Ukraine."
### Dual-Use Goods Concerns
While **Wildberries** primarily deals in consumer goods, reports indicate that the platform also facilitates the sale of military equipment, including drone components and body armor. This alleged involvement in the supply chain for military items further underscores why the company has become a strategic target.
**Wildberries** has yet to issue a public statement regarding the alleged cyberattack or the reported damages.
### A Pattern of Coordinated Operations
This incident aligns with a broader pattern of Ukraine's military intelligence conducting cyberattacks in concert with hacker groups, often synchronizing them with major drone or missile strikes. Previous examples include **HUR**'s claim to have hacked the internal systems of Russian state-owned aircraft manufacturer **Tupolev** in June 2025, following drone attacks on Russian air bases. Similarly, in September last year, the agency reported a **DDoS** attack on Russian election systems in response to voting in occupied Ukrainian territories.
